About Me

Hi, I'm Sam, a twenty something in the midst of trying to complete my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Duke in Durham, NC. I love doing yoga, surfing, running single track mountain bike trails, and cooking delicious food. I started practicing yoga in 2008, but really fell in love with the practice in 2012 when I discovered alignment-based yoga. In 2016, I completed my RYT-200 yoga teacher training with Sommer and Paul Sobin.

Other things about me:

I adore my dogs Ziva and Avery, sunflowers, and the color yellow. In the whirlwind of ups and downs in graduate school, I was looking for something more than school to keep pushing me outside my comfort zone and to hold me accountable for doing the things that I kept putting off. So in 2013 I created my first list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. Although the time frame for that list has elapsed, I liked the concept so much that I am currently working on a second version. You can find these lists in the tabs above, as well as my experience with each completed item under the blog tab. My second list will be posted very soon!
